In co-operation with the schooltool[1] project, I have re-packaged the schoolbell-0.7 release. It is now lintian clean. Schoolbell is the first public release and is focused on calendaring via a web interface. It is intended to be tested. The rest of the schooltool packages will follow. I am looking for a sponsor, or failing that, a DD who would take over and maintain the packages him/herself (They would have to introduce themselves to upstream first). I am also interested in any requirements for a package to work well with Debian Edu? We will address basic school operational functions such as student registration, attendance records, student performance measurement, timetable creation and calendaring, society/club/team membership management, and report writing. In later versions we hope to expand SchoolTool to address school financial management, specialised modules for library and cafeteria management, communication between local authorities and schools as well as inter-school information sharing. We will also make it possible to link SchoolTool to your school web portal.
