LTSP is not Debian. Debian provides other solutions for diskless operation, with lesdisks being the newest and most actively maintained (or "least unmaintained", depending on how harsh you want to put it). If you want non-Debian educational solutions I suggest you take a look at http://lwn.net/Distributions/#edu (or other parts of that page for more generic but aiming at small/old processors). If you are interested in a generic debian solution for your old PC then I strongly suggest you discuss it in a broader forum than this. We may happen to know some solutions for your needs, but others may have better options for you that you won't stumble across in this list: We build a system called "Skolelinux" that requires at least one relatively powerful machine.
