I guess the problem us related to the fact that you have more than 2 nic, and were not able to bind to each nic as wanted. if the 2 nics dont work, then I guess you need to add some lines in /etc/modules with the modules you want to have loaded first. You have to let us know which nic you have, which nic you want to make work, and some output from dmesg, I think.
