[Matt Zimmerman] > In the powernowd package. Thank you for that clue.
I've combined parts from the powernowd init.d script and the cpufreq-detect.sh script into one init.d script loadcpufreq included in the debian-edu-config package, and written a cfengine rule to get cpufrequtils to turn on ondemand CPU frequency scaling. I also made sure the cpufrequtils is installed and enabled for all machines, and not just laptops. Schools want to save power to reduce their power bill, so I figure it is useful also on desktops and servers. The change will show up on the etch-test-dvd in a few minutes.
