Closing this bug now. AFAIK solutions for this problem are developed upstream
(pulseaudio, is even in etch, but afaik its only for gnome, not for kde yet),
so closing this as we dont have the manpower to fix this for etch and hopefully
it will be gone for lenny anyway.
