Yes it is. Nano is a free Pico clone with some new features. pico is soft linked to nano. It was some discussion about making Nano default in Debian a couple of years ago. I don't remember when. Anyway nano is installed as standard at my Debian boxes. For end users not familiar with vi commands, pico or nano is the thing if they by chance has to use a console. Best regards Knut Yrvin
