There is more in <URL:http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/HowTo/SiteSummary>, but it should be available in the package as well. > what features does sitesummary currently have, and how do i > configure them? > for the client-side, it seems like there are some scripts in > /usr/lib/sitesummary/collect.d, each of which makes a directory and > dumps some information somewhere, but it is not clear where... The files created by the scripts in collect.d/ end up on the server, in /var/lib/sitesummary/. > there is also /usr/share/sitesummary/sitesummary.conf, but it is not > clear what i have to do to override those defaults... Run 'dpkg-reconfigure sitesummary-client' to configure where to submit information and the host site, subsite and type. > it seems like probably installing apache2 will enable the > server-side components ? Replace 'localhost' with the DNS name of the server (the collector) when running 'dpkg-reconfigure sitesummary-client'. After a day or two, you should be able to see stats showing up in <URL:http://collector.dns.name/sitesummary/>. There is also a server option of creating a munin configuration file with all the hosts known to the collector. Do not remember the details of that one. I hope someone can put all this together into instructions for the sysadmin and user of sitesummary.
