BTW: How about adding this line to any LTSP client (/opt/ltsp/...): $MAC = getmacaddr(); if (! exist(/var/log/$MAC.log) hwinfo >/var/log/$MAC.log This ensures that we "record" any relevant information about connected thin clients.
