A quick websearch seems to indicate that plain vanilla ejabberd won't work - OLPC-specific patches are required: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Installing_ejabberd Best approach is probably to file a wishlist bugreport against ejabberd to either apply the olpc patches to the standard ejabberd or offer some ejabberd-olpc variant of the package with the patches applied.
