[Trent W. Buck] > There's a project called "etckeeper" that can "store /etc in git, > mercurial, or bzr". Are you aware of etckeeper, and is there a > reason there needs to be a separate package for svk, instead of > simply making it an etckeeper backend?
There are several not very good reasons. The etc-in-svk script already existed as part of debian-edu-config, and I wanted to make it available for a larger audience, and I lacked the time to rewrite it as a patch to etckeeper. Also, the etckeeper behavior seemed more interactive than etc-in-svk. etc-in-svk is desiged to be hidden and only track changes done, while etckeeper asked for commit messages when it found changes. I'm sure Joey Hess might be interested in making etckeeper less interactive, and to accept support for svk, but as I said, I never found time ot work on it. :) See <URL: http://bugs.debian.org/458078 > for the exchange I had with Joey about svk support in etckeeper.
