Dear list, we managed to install LTSP5 on Lenny, and most works fine. Just a few remarks and one major question - before filing bugs against /dev/null ...
*** "splash quiet" in pxelinux.cfg/default Nice splash animation (sometimes jumping rectangele), but after basic installation, we get a blank screen for approx. 40 seconds before login screen displays. We already provide working parameters in xorg.conf. This issue would make our users to restart (rather than wait), so we decided to try out... ** "splash" (without quiet") in pxelinux.cfg/default The area where messages are printed does not integrate very well (question of design). But more suprisingly, after basic startup, we again have this blank screen (due to framebuffer???). * "" (no splash, not quiet) Boot in traditional text mode, everything works fine. Any hint on how to enjoy the splash mode without having to wait in front of a blank pitch black screen? Further remark: In terms of bandwith, I'd prefer 16 bit resolution over 24 bit, but the default login screen has a color graduation which looks ugly in 16 bit. Thanks for reading.
