Hi list,

for some schools filesystem quota is a feature they would like to have. I was thinking of re-adding this feature to the current CipUX version 3.4.x.x. After some investigation and a nice tip of Erik on cipux-devel I have 2 ideas in mind how to implement it. Both are very similar, but do have the disadvantage that they are tool specific and not general to LDAP.

1. old CipUX approach
2. aproach of 'quota' package in Debian

 * custom attribute and objectClass in both cases
 * needs scrips or crond jobs to query LDAP and set/ get quotas
 * Mail informs about quota (over) usage

Are there any general approaches to this feature?

Is there an RFC for filesystem quota?

Are there LDAP experiences in implementing quota with LDAP?

Help and ideas are appreciated

Best regards
Christian
