What about using a suffix similar to the ~deb70u1 scheme of proposed-updates; for example ~edu70u1 (Debian Edu, v7.0, update 1). Due to the special handling of the ~ tilde character in version numbers, the 'real' 0.3-5 package would supersede it if/when accepted into Wheezy.
