I followed the recipe that Petter Reinholdtsen posted here:

and reduced my boot time from 25 seconds to 18. (Changing from bash to
dash saved 3 seconds, and enabling parallel init scripts with insserv
saved an additional 5 seconds.)
The readahead package provided no benefit (actually hurt slightly),
probably due to the already low latency of reading from SSD.
