Hi! I was in the same problem after an update some days ago.
I make many changes triying to bringh the ahteros work again, but i cant remember the exact comands :( all the instruction i use where found in the wiki (http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC) in several pages. i think some of the steps of the solution was: echo "pciehp" >> /etc/modules echo "options pciehp pciehp_force=1" >> /etc/modprobe.d/pciehp m-a m-i madwifi or madwifi-source then reboot Regards/Saludos!
