If someone is interested, I've rewritten the eeepc-acpi-scripts vga-
toggle script to allow switching between mirror, dualhead and external
vga only modes with Fn+F5. You can get my version from
http://www.notcom.org/forum/vga-toggle.sh
. Make a backup of your existing /etc/acpi/actions/vga-toggle.sh and
copy the new script to that location. Don't forget to chmod a+x /etc/
acpi/actions/vga-toggle.sh
I have only tested it with the 901, but I think it should work with
the older models too. By default it will cycle internal display ->
mirror -> dualhead -> external display -> internal display, but you
can set DUALHEAD_ENABLE=false or MIRROR_ENABLE=false in /etc/default/
eeepc-acpi-scripts to change this. Setting ENABLE_OSD=yes should give
you informative notifications.
For dualhead to work, you need to add the following to the Screen
section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restart X:
Subsection "Display"
Virtual 2048 2048
EndSubSection
If it doesn't seem to work, try running the script from a shell window
and see what it says.
