Right. I missed the --user $user part.

Note that I also preferred a simpler approach - try every available 
screensaver whose binary is found in /usr/bin. This may well result in 
several attempts some of which are not scritcly necessary, but 
simplifies the script.

Your proposal is good, and I will have it as a backup, if the current 
brute force approach proves problematic.
