I wonder how small that partition can actually be. One way to find out (other
than trying different sizes) might be to actually try to find out what is in
that partition. My wild guess is that it stores probe results from hardware
probes done by the BIOS, so that at subsequent boots, the BIOS no longer has
to probe for hardware (and wait for results etc). But that is only a guess.
