Could be a configuration issue here... hmm, I'd forgotten about hotplug; using "allow-hotplug" instead of "auto" seems to work fine – and cuts down boot time! :-) OTOH, the patch allows the display of "wireless on" when the interface has been configured, rather than immediately...
