Maybe one of: ath5k cannot connect to WPA networks with a AR242x (or AR5007) chipset http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13218 or: ath5k modul disconnect with Access-Point http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12702 I don't use WPA/WPA2, but I have had disconnects using ath5k that I never had with madwifi resembling the second bug (i.e. 'No ProbeResp ... assume out of range' errors). I simply toggle FnF2 and then I'm back in business again. It doesn't happen frequently enough on open networks to be much of a bother.
