Package: eeepc-acpi-scripts
Version: 1.1.10
Severity: normal
Hello,
I have a Samsung N210. I don't have anything under /sys/class/backlight and
pressing Fn+BrightUp or Fn+BrightDown does nothing. ACPI BRTUP and BRTDN events
are correctly sent.
Workaround:
Get: setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b
Set: setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=ff
Is this a kernel bug?

Samsung does not make Eee PCs. Only Asus does. The Debian Eee PC team,
which maintains the eeepc-acpi-scripts package, therefore doesn't
support this hardware. So the bug was never relevant.
Either upstream (kernel.org) needs to support this in the kernel
(preferable, but sounds doubtful given Frederik's info about usptream
status of the driver) or else someone needs to build a package for it
out of tree, in which case please use reportbug to file an RFP (request
for packaging) bug against the wnpp for the driver, filling out all
required info in the template.
Ben
