Package: cpufrequtils Version: 007-2 Severity: minor User: [email protected] Usertag: 701
By loading all possible cpufreq modules, cpufrequtils 007-1 "accidentially" loaded the right module for my EeePC 701, p4_clockmod. Before that I wasn't even aware that I can change the CPU frequency of my EeePC 701 so fine-grained, especially after remembering the 701 issues with SHE (see http://bugs.debian.org/559578). After the upgrade to cpufrequtils 007-2 and a reboot, these neat features were gone again. While trying to get cpu frequency scaling back on my EeePC, I downgraded cpufrequtils to 007-1 and that helped. :-) So please load p4_clockmod for the following CPU: processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 13 model name : Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 900MHz stepping : 8 cpu MHz : 900.000 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss tm pbe nx up bts bogomips : 1259.92 clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 32 bits physical, 32 bits virtual power management: (Before loading p4_clockmod and running "/etc/init.d/loadcpufreq start" the "cpu MHz" is usually around 630 MHz which interestingly is no more available in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies: 112500 225000 337500 450000 562500 675000 787500 900000) For myself I've worked around this issue by explicitly stating FREQDRIVER=p4_clockmod in /etc/default/loadcpufreq. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (900, 'testing'), (600, 'stable'), (400, 'oldstable'), (110, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-rc7-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cpufrequtils depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.41 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libcpufreq0 007-2 ii lsb-base 3.2-28 cpufrequtils recommends no packages. cpufrequtils suggests no packages. -- debconf information: cpufrequtils/enable: true _______________________________________________ Debian-eeepc-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/debian-eeepc-devel
