2006/11/19, Junior <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I've notice after doing some cross compiling( building kernel, apps, etc) my system gets sluggish and drags.
Watch the output of "vmstat 5" on some console while it's slugging and read the vmstat man page to see what all the fields mean. That is a good indication of what it is spending its time doing. Paradoxically, you may get better performance by dropping your RAM from 768M to 512M or even 256, since every time you pass a power of two boundary of physical RAM, the granularity of the L2 cache doubles. It doesn't look like you're short of RAM since almost no swap is being used. Good luck! M -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
