I think the next upload of dpkg-cross (to use dpkg-architecture to provide %archtable) should be v2.0.0 - not just v2.0 but a trivial change to separate minor updates from larger updates. If this had been in place from v1.0, we'd probably be on 1.7.4 or similar by now, instead of contemplating 1.40.
