Nice, I didn't know about this.
However I have never seen a standalone version of such a tool, which
is annoying as I'd aften like to use such on a coreutils-based system.
Depending on your flash size it might be acceptable to
install it anyway. Busybox + busybox-syslogd = 440 kBytes
on i386 w/o /usr/share/{doc,man}.
