That's basically what I am doing, except that the very lowest-level
details like how to set up the SDRAM controller, etc. are still part
of a traditional bootloader.

Honestly, the board comes from the factory with a traditional
bootloader--- and if I leave it there then I can honestly claim to
have not broken anything.
