I'll not be going to OLS this time around, only debconf. I've got too
many things eating up viable work time during the only time of the year
where we can make drastic changes at work.

Could be worse:

USENIX Technical Conf prices:
http://www.usenix.org/events/usenix02/registration/

Tutorials:
One Day Fee:$600
Two Day Fee:$1100 - SAVE $100!
Three Day Fee:$1500 - SAVE $300!
After May 17, add $150 to the tutorial fee.

Technical Sessions:
Current Member Fee: $595
Non-Member/Renewing Member Fee: $695
$150 more after may 17th.

I think its *insane* and wouldn't go to these sorts of things without a
sponsering employer.

Amusingly, the student costs are highly discounted:

$90 for a tutorial
$100 for the sessions
