I personally would like to avoid non-free software if possible. If it's
head and shoulders above the other offerings of course it would be best to
opt for security....but if we can make things PDB-secure
(PDB=Pretty-Dad-Burned), with a little extra work using another method I
think that would be better in the long haul.
