a big glass that you hold up to little blue objects. ok not really. smurfing - pinging a host and giving it a respond ip that is a broadcast address of a network. if a system allows either: 1. spoofed packets to leave or 2. Allows directed ip broadcast then it could be used as a smurf magnifier. the idea is you can get some pretty heinous packet actions going on if all the hosts in a subnet respond to a host outside of that subnet when the broadcast or network address is pinged. -sv
