I have DSL and I put a symlink to my ipchains start-up and shutdown scripts in /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/ and /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/. That start-up script is my old rc.firewall from when I had RedHat installed. Maybe this location is suitable for you too?
