-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 So just to make it clear to me, the cable from my server NIC to my hub (which btw has no uplink, it's a simple one i picked up from work, one plug "To Datalink" 4 plugs "To System 1 - 4") needs to be a straight cable, and the cables from the hub to the clients need to be crossover cables? I think they are crossovers, because they do work when i hook the server up directly to my client.
Thanks, I'll drop by radioshack tomorrow Jule On Thursday 19 June 2003 20:58, Bernd Eckenfels wrote: > On Thu, Jun 19, 2003 at 07:39:07PM -0400, Jule Slootbeek wrote: > > the setup works fine if i plug one (1) client straight into the server, > > but when i throw the hub in between the client and the server the little > > link light on the hub doesn't blink. the lights on the client side do, > > but the lights on eth1 on the server and on the hub don't blink denoting > > there is no connection between the server and the hub. > > this sounds like the cable which is connected to your server has crossed > lines. this is only needed if you connect two systems without hub. > > if you do not have another cable you can use the hubs uplink port, which > also has crossed lines. > > Greetings > Bernd > -- > (OO) -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- > ( .. ) [EMAIL PROTECTED],linux.de,debian.org} http://home.pages.de/~eckes/ > o--o *plush* 2048/93600EFD [EMAIL PROTECTED] +497257930613 BE5-RIPE > (O____O) When cryptography is outlawed, bayl bhgynjf jvyy unir cevinpl! - -- Jule Slootbeek [EMAIL PROTECTED] 617 901 6958 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+8mghQkskRvXpytsRAhVOAJ9peenbjOW9uz4O97bf66Bw0EqX3ACePR2+ i+MOZAx8OM9Z/eOHafXqMdU= =/Q4r -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
