Q:
I'm using a dual boot setup with regular 2.2R1 debian, english with
french-swiss keyboard and a french-swiss Windows98 on a second partition.
Mounting vfat partition under linux, I always get "?" for accented characters
contained in windows files and directories names.
I tried without success almost all vfat options in mount command. It may be an
issue of used console font but I have no idea on how to set it on the right
way. My config is based on regular xfree as found in debian 2.2R1 Would someone
accept to give me hand?

There is an option in the kernel 2.4.0 for the langage used in the fat files.
You can try to recompile your kernel with this option.
Je viens de regarder la config kernel, il y a bien une option 'Native Language
Support" pour le montage des partitions.
Chez moi, elle a comme valeur : iso 8859-1 (tu peux aussi mettre -15)
Il y a peut-�tre un autre option specifique pour la FAT, mais j'ai rien vu !!
En bref, verifies si tu as bien une bonne valeur pour le NLS. J'ai pas d'autre
id�e ;)
