I uploaded gcc-4.4 4.4.5-8 to unstable, works fine so far.
I’ve also made a gcj-4.4 package for unreleased out of it,
following the documentation, which also seems to work well
(once build-deps are installed).
So, all that’s left is probably:
• look at the symbols warnings from Message #30
• upload a newer gcj-4.4 src package to unstable
