My initial packaging used the SONAME for the package name, but after finding the Ubuntu packaging I decided to adopt their approach. First priority is fixing the linking to make mapserver fully functional without LD_PRELOAD. >> Waiting for mapserver 6.4 may also be an option, since upsteam is >> changing the build system again, this time to cmake. > > Is there any schedule for this release? The mapserver 6.4 release plan has it scheduled for August 29th 2013. https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/wiki/MapServer-6.4-Release-Plan#planned-dates >>> Any reason not to just apply for becoming a member and use alioth as >>> centralised infrastructure for Debian development? >> >> Since this is my first contribution to the Debian GIS team I think it's >> a bit premature to apply for team membership. > > Hmmm, this is a strange logic: How can you do a contribution to the > team if you are no member? I was following the advice on the Debian GIS Information for Developers wiki which mentions that it's better to submit a few patches before asking for commit access if you're not a DD. http://wiki.debian.org/DebianGis/InfoForDevelopers#Maintainership I followed your advices and asked for membership on Alioth. > Kind regards and thanks for your work on mapserver > > Andreas.
