On Debian systems, the GPL can be found in /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL. Packaging has been extensively changed in release 4.2r3 by Francesco Paolo Lovergine <[email protected]> and released under the same terms. -- However, no version of GPL is specified. Since the packaging is old I think I can safely assume that Philippe is referring to GPL version 2. For the changes by Frankie this is less easy to say.
