The same happens using "dpkg-reconfigure locales" too. here's another test: server:~# export LC_ALL=en_US server:~# rm rm: too few arguments Try `rm --help' for more information. now server:~# export LC_ALL=es_ES server:~# rm rm: too few arguments Try `rm --help' for more information. It wont get translated.. and look: server:~# ls /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/coreutils.mo /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/coreutils.mo Those are installed and all. Am I doing anything wrong?
