I discussed this issue with Martin Sj�gren, and he stated that udpkg just does not parse the version information. So it will do no harm if they are present. Naming library udebs libfooN-udeb (with N = noname number) and providing the original name of the corresponding deb packe in the Provides field should enable all packagers to use the dh_shlibdeps determine their dependancies. If I miss something please provide me with further information.
