They come from the list presented on the screen asking what locales to configure. (At least I don't remember ever altering a file by hand...) Anyway, I have purged locales and am reinstalling it...and the debconf list includes the following en_GB locales: en_GB.ISO-8859-1 en_GB.ISO-10646 ISO-10646 Ien_GB.SO-8859-15 ISO-8859-15 en_GB.ISO8859-15 ISO-8859-15 en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8 and I still get the error: Generating locales... en_GB.ISO-8859-1... done en_GB.ISO-10646.../usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB:25: LC_IDENTIFICATION: unknown character in field `address' /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB:60: LC_MONETARY: unknown character in field `currency_symbol' dpkg: error processing locales (--configure): -- Oliver Elphick [EMAIL PROTECTED] Isle of Wight, UK http://www.lfix.co.uk/oliver GPG: 1024D/3E1D0C1C: CA12 09E0 E8D5 8870 5839 932A 614D 4C34 3E1D 0C1C ======================================== "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
