After upgrading to libc 2.3.2 on debian sid, the libnss-mysql package stops to work correctly:
console logins hang (for /etc/passwd and mysql accounts), su hangs etc. of course having read that it will also break the mathematica kernel means I can't really consider upgrading our systems anyways.
