I've noticed this, too. It seems to be related to long lines in /etc/group. See http://bugs.debian.org/208428 and http://bugs.debian.org/212541 for details.


I also could not extract any .tar.gz files. Tar failed in a similar way.

You can use "--numeric-owner" as a workaraound for tar. But better keep the old libc6 version until the problem is fixed.
