Subject: gconv-modules: iconv fails if it cannot map between charsets
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.7
Reply-To: Elad Tsur <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Package: gconv-modules
Version: 2.1.1-1
When trying to convert files between charset, iconv fails if it cannot map
between charsets with an error like:
iconv: illegal input sequence at position 52
This happens even if only one character in the input charset cannot be
mapped to the output charset. This limits the usefulness of iconv. It would
be nice to have an option to specify what to do with these untranslatable
characters (translate them to a fixed selectable character or try to
approximate them).
