Hi, I've built an Alpha EV67 (21264B) optimized glibc package. It would be nice of somebody could check whether they get any performance improvements, so we can judge whether this is worthwhile. In particular, there should be speedups for the following functions:
ffs memchr memcpy memset sqrt strcat strchr strcpy strlen strncat strncpy strrchr The glibc patch is at http://lists.debian.org/debian-glibc/2004/03/msg00143.html. The package is at http://people.debian.org/~falk/libc6.1-alphaev67_2.3.2.ds1-16_alpha.deb You can test it with LD_PRELOAD=/lib/ev67/libc-2.3.2.so program Alternatively, also install the libc6.1 package from that site; it contains a modified duynamic loader that uses the ev67 version automatically if you have a 2.6.2, 2.4.25 or newer kernel. This is all not very well tested, so don't try it on an important system. -- Falk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
