Package: nscd Version: 2.2.5-11.5 Severity: important Tags: security Hi,
I'm using nscd with libnss-ldap in Woody, and whenever the OpenLDAP server has to be restarted, nscd doesn't see some information in passwd, even past many minutes, what would expire the cache. By restarting nscd, it returns to normal operation. The big problem is that that happens in every machine whenever the LDAP server is restarted, what gets me really angry. I have some systems that stop working because of that, and I can't assure that OpenLDAP will never be restarted. What I see in the stations' logs when the LDAP server goes down is this: Nov 14 22:32:12 prodlinux nscd: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server - Can't contact LDAP server It's weird. Even after the LDAP server going down, the stations should be able to use the cached information, but they lose it, I don't know why. And even after the server restarting, the stations don't see some information either. The most strange is that that doesn't happen with all the information in password, for example. It's just with some information. As far as I know, there is no a pattern that I could realise what is lost. Any help is much welcome. Thanks. -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux prodlinux 2.4.26 #2 SMP Thu May 20 21:14:49 BRT 2004 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages nscd depends on: hi libc6 2.2.5-11.5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
