Package: locales Version: 2.3.1-7 Severity: wishlist The idea with having the user select his/her own locale is great. But for newcomers to Linux, the locale names aren't really understandable.
So it would be excellent if the language name of the locale could be spelled out next to the locale name when configuring the locales package. E.g.: Danish (da_DK ISO-8859-1) Spanish (es_ES ISO-8859-1) British English (en_GB ISO-8859-1) American English (en_US ISO-8859-1) etc. That's a big jump for user friendlyness when installing a new Debian system, imho. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux kolon 2.4.19 #2 fre sep 20 14:29:53 CEST 2002 i686 Locale: LANG=da_DK, LC_CTYPE=da_DK Versions of packages locales depends on: ii debconf 1.2.20 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 [glibc-2.3.1-7] 2.3.1-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- debconf information excluded
