Hi,
yesterday I upgraded from XFree 4.0.3 to XFree 4.1. Doing so, some other
packages also got updated, one of which I think has been libc6. After
restarting the X-Server I found out that the general keyboard layout
still was the German one, but the diaresis characters (vocals with two
dots on top) just produced beeps. I first thought this an X problem,
since at that time the console still was ok.
However, after rebooting, the console window showed the same phenomenon.
I played around with loadkeys and found out, that whichever key I assign
adiaeresis for example, would simply beep when being pressed. So I also
updated the console-tools to 0.2.3-23.1 and console-data 1999.08.29-21
but with no success after rebooting.
Still, I get beeps instead of the correct character.
Would be nice if you could somewhat help me.

This kind of locale.gen bug is fixed in 2.3.1-14.
