Package: libc6 Version: 2.3.1-17.0.1 Followup-For: Bug #200833 the version i'm reporting a bug against is as above, but my own is fine 2.3.1-17), i'm just reporting this for another machine that has a TOTALLY FUBAR libc (it has the -17.0.1 version installed, an imac rev. a)
so this is going to be anecdotal, but direct first-hand experience: i upgrade sid on this imac, and something funny was going on with gdm, i retsart gdm, and it segfaults. try again, directly from the script segfaults again. i'm wondering "what's going on? this is weird", not thinking that it was the upgrade (which included libc6 2.3.1-17.0.1 and friends) so i reboot the imac, nothing starts up, and i try to get a login, nothing works, can't grab tty1... i think "oy, this isn't good". so i reboot again, in single user mode, gives me the "give root password for maintenance ctrl-D for normal startup" - still can't get tty1, try ctrl-alt-del, -- nothing happens. downgrading (which i will do once i get back to it) libc6 is very high on the TODO list for that machine ;). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: powerpc info for that imac => Kernel: Linux imac 2.4.18-powerpc (installer 2.4.x PPC kernel) Locale: LANG=C Versions of packages libc6 depends on: ii libdb1-compat 2.1.3-7 The Berkeley database routines [gl -- no debconf information
