I can confirm that as of the binutils CVS of today, this bug is closed. The relevant change is at http://sources.redhat.com/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/src/bfd/elf-eh-frame.c.diff?cvsroot=src&r1=1.25&r2=1.26
Not sure if it applies/is useful with the binutils unstable is shipping right now. Kudos to everybody for helping fix this up!
