to check what time it is at transmeta i did
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ > TZ=PST date
Wed Jan 19 19:53:15 PST 2000

my local computer has:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ > date
Wed Jan 19 20:53:35 CET 2000

but i somehow noticed that it was wrong.
if i had done:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ > TZ=PST8PDT date
Wed Jan 19 11:54:13 PST 2000

the output would have been correct!

but there is no warning, no error message,
he just converts everything unknown to GMT.
i think this behaviour is bad ?

i could also do:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ > TZ=IDIOT date
Wed Jan 19 19:54:58 IDIOT 2000

??

i know that unknown TZ should be GMT used then.
but why doesn't he do this instead:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ > TZ=IDIOT date
Wed Jan 19 19:54:58 GMT 2000
