Quite a few of NPTL bugs have been fixed in libc6 version 2.3.5-3. Especially this one:
NPTL (0.60) quirks with pthread_create (ignores attributes) http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=266507 Subscribers of this list (and other Linux Audio related lists) will remember that there have been heated debates regarding this bug and the delay of the application of a known patch. Thanks to the Debian glibc maintainers this problem finally has been resolved. Thanks a lot! I have had no crashes, no freezes or other problems so far with the new version.
