Package: locales Version: 2.3.6-3 Severity: normal Steps to reproduce -dpkg --purge locales -make sure you have no /etc/locale.gen file -aptitude install locales -enable en_US.UTF-8, and no default system locale in the debconf screens
This is supposed to create /etc/locale.gen, and generate the locales you chose, however it does neither. A subsequent dpkg-reconfigure locales (chose the same settings) will create the file and generate locales as expected. The problem only occurs during the initial install. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages locales depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.72 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 [glibc-2.3.6-2] 2.3.6-3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an locales recommends no packages. -- debconf information: * locales/default_environment_locale: None * locales/locales_to_be_generated: en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
